Wontumi playing mind games with MPs and party Executives-Akwasi Nti

The Ashanti region has been in the news in the last few weeks over the violent turn the New Patriotic Party(NPP) polling station election has taken.

Latest constituency to record a protest is Fomena, some irate NPP youth were seen rebranding their party office in the constituency.

According to them, National Executive members of the NPP have signaled that Mr Asiamah, who doubles as the 2nd Deputy Speaker, will be made the next NPP parliamentary candidate, with a “no polling station elections” policy in the Fomena constituency.

Speaking in an interview with, Kwame Adinkrah on Pure Morning Drive on Wednesday, the outspoken former Chairman accused the incumbent regional chairman of masterminding the violence in the region and cautioned the MPs and Executives to be mindful of him(Wontumi).

“Wontumi is playing serious mind games with both Members of Parliament(MPs) and constituency executives. In the likely event that one wins, he takes credit for it. He has divided his team into two, one side supports MPs and the other supports executives. Ashanti NPP must be vigilant enough and kick out this pandemic, he added.

According to Akwasi Nti, Chairman Wontumi sponsored most of the independent candidates in the Ashanti Region during the 2020 elections to bring down incumbent candidates who were constantly opposing his decisions.

“He is not trustworth, if you don’t seem to like him, he will field a candidate to contest you. Whether it will affect the party or not, he doesn’t care and so the MPs and other executives mist thread cautiously, he stated.
