Players of Ghana Premier League side, Ashantigold Sporting Club (SC) have been attacked by armed robbers in their team bus on their way to Obuasi in the Ashanti region after their game against Accra Hearts of Oak on Sunday.
Mr. Daniel Bio, Administrative Manager of the Club revealed to Pure FM’s, Jacob Atsu Sebeh in an exclusive interview that the incident which occurred at dawn has left the Club’s players and other occupants of the bus shaken and traumatized.
According to him, the players will undergo a psychological consultation to evaluate the extent of their trauma and offer the needed treatment before their next game against Real Tamale United (RTU) on March 30, 2022.
He further indicated that no no injuries were recorded as the team have successfully arrived at Obuasi .
The team in a 2:1 defeat to Hearts of Oak were attacked at ‘Assin Endwa’ in the Central region by unknown gunmen on their return journey from the nation’s Capital.
Ashantigold SC in a press release revealed that the robbers shot thrice at their vehicle’s bullet proof glass but the team driver successfully meandered his way through the terrible scene of gunshots.
