Largest cashew plantation in Oti Region set ablaze by unknown persons

The largest cashew plantation at Kparekpare near the Oti Regional capital Dambai has been burnt to ashes by unknown people.

The farm which covers more than 120 acres, according to the Chief Executive Officer of De Jordans Agro and Investment Mr Jordan Sheriff Owusu was set ablaze on Sunday, 30th January 2022.

He said they took all the safety precautions as long as the wheather is concerned by creating fire belt along the edges of the farm, therefore confused of how the incident happened.

Mr Jordan, who believe the incident was intentionally created by some unknown people said ” I believe someone intentionally set the farm ablaze because they don’t believe in plantation and see it as threat” he lamented.

The Chief Executive Officer said he had lost over Ghc400,000 as investment and therefore called on government and other organizations to come to his aid.
