Dr. Stephen Amoah, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Nhyiaeso Constituency, has dismissed as “fake” the report on the NPP’s electoral performance in the Ashanti Region, issued by some regional executives of the party.
The report, which was circulated after the 2024 elections, allegedly highlights various factors contributing to the party’s loss, including accusations directed at the MP himself.
Dr. Amoah, known affectionately as ‘Stica,’ vehemently rejected the claims, stating that no one had contacted him or anyone in his constituency to gather accurate information before producing the report.
In an interview with Hello FM, Dr. Amoah expressed his frustration with the unfounded allegations, saying, “This so-called report about me and our region’s performance in the elections is not only untrue but also baseless. No one reached out to me, nor did they consult anyone from my constituency to gather the facts. They simply fabricated these claims.”
The report, which has stirred controversy within the NPP ranks in Ashanti, has drawn sharp responses from party members, with some calling for an internal review of how such claims were allowed to circulate.
Dr. Amoah further emphasised that the actions of the regional executives were damaging to the party’s unity and could have long-lasting effects on the credibility of the leadership.
The MP called for an official apology from the executives behind the report. “They need to apologize for the harm they’ve caused. If they don’t, everyone, including myself, will speak out on the real reasons behind our loss. We owe it to ourselves and to the people of Ashanti to set the record straight,” Dr. Amoah warned.
