Okwahuman Youth Association Calls for Peace and Unity Amidst Dual Paramountcy Dispute

The Okwahuman Youth’s Association has issued a passionate plea for peace and unity in the Kwahu Traditional Area as the community faces a critical challenge: the contentious issue of dual paramountcy. Known for its rich cultural heritage and history of peaceful coexistence, Kwahu is now grappling with a situation that threatens its stability.

In Kwahu’s traditional governance system, the paramount chief represents the highest authority and serves as a unifying symbol for the people. This revered institution embodies the customs, traditions, and values of the community, making its integrity essential for maintaining harmony.

However, the emergence of two individuals claiming the title of paramount chief has sparked concerns among the youth, who see this as a significant threat to peace and stability.

The association has strongly condemned the situation, emphasizing that once a paramount chief has been duly installed and recognized, no other individual should claim the title.

“The existence of dual paramountcy undermines the authority of the paramount chief and erodes the confidence of our citizens in this sacred traditional institution,” the statement read.

The youth expressed their fears that the ongoing conflict, if left unresolved, could lead to chaos, violence, and the destruction of their community’s heritage. “We cannot sit idly by while our traditions and unity are being destroyed,” they declared.

Proposed Path to PeaceTo address the crisis, the youth have outlined a four-point proposal aimed at restoring peace and unity in the traditional area:

1. Immediate cessation of hostilities and violent acts to prevent further escalation.

2. A meeting of all stakeholders, including the parties involved, traditional leaders, and government representatives, to discuss the issue.

3. A thorough investigation into the circumstances that led to the dual paramountcy.

4. A peaceful and transparent resolution of the matter, rooted in Kwahu’s traditions and customs.

A Call to Action

The youth have called on all stakeholders to prioritize the interests of the community over personal agendas. They urged the government, traditional leaders, and relevant institutions to intervene promptly to resolve the crisis.”We reiterate our call for peace and settlement. We will not tolerate any further division and conflict. Kwahu is one, and we will have one paramount chief,” the youth affirmed.While expressing their resolve to ensure peace and stability, the youth urged all citizens of Kwahu to remain calm and peaceful during these challenging times. “Together, we can overcome this difficulty and emerge stronger and more united than ever,” they concluded.
