Hon. Adam Mutawakilu is a distinguished public servant, financial expert, and educator with an extensive background in governance and energy economics. He holds multiple advanced degrees, including an MSc in Development Finance from the University of Ghana and an MSc in Energy Economics from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).

He has also completed coursework for his MPhil in Petroleum and Oil Studies at the University of Cape Coast.In addition to his academic credentials, Hon. Mutawakilu earned a Commonwealth Executive MBA from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, an Executive Certificate in Governance and Leadership from the Ghana School of Governance and Leadership, and a BSc in Administration (Accounting Option) from the University of Ghana.Between 2013 and 2020, Hon. Mutawakilu served as the first Member of Parliament for the Damongo Constituency, representing it after its division to create the Daboya-Mankarigu Constituency. During his tenure, he became a key figure in the Mines and Energy Committee, where he rose to the position of Vice Chairman and later Ranking Member.

He also contributed to the Committee of Members Holding Office of Profit.His public service journey began as District Chief Executive for West Gonja District (2009–2013). Before that, he worked at the University for Development Studies as Head of Treasury. Hon.

Mutawakilu’s early career as a professional teacher saw him teaching Core Science, Mathematics, and Chemistry at Damongo Senior High School from 1996 to 1999 and part-time at Bagabaga Training College.

With deep roots in his community and a commitment to development, Hon. Adam Mutawakilu also served at the West Gonja District Hospital as a Laboratory Technician, enriching his multidisciplinary approach to service.
