Former Afigya Kwabere South Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Odeneho Kwaku, also known as Chairman Coka, has called for peaceful elections in Ghana’s upcoming December 7 polls.

Speaking at the Afigya Kwabere South Constituency Church Service on Friday, November 29, 2024,

Chairman Coka emphasized the importance of respecting the electoral process and the laws of the nation.

“We’re not going to fight, we’re not going to insult each other. We’re going to exercise our kokromoti power (exercise franchise).” Chairman Coka said.

He also reminded the audience that the electoral commission officers are their relatives, friends, husbands, and wives, and therefore deserve respect.’Let’s give the needed respect to the regulations of the electoral commission officers at the various polling stations.

They are our relatives, friends, husbands and wives so lets respect them.”Chairman Coka’s call for peace comes at a critical time in Ghana’s electoral history.

The country is preparing for its 5th presidential succession since the return to democratic multiparty politics in 1992.

The elections are expected to be highly competitive, with the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) facing off against the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
