Otumfuor has been good to me – Ashanti Regional Minister

In an interview on Pure Fm, Honourable Simon Osei Mensah expressed his gratitude to Otumfuor, the Ashanti king, for his supportive leadership. Mensah noted that working with traditional authorities, like Otumfuor, is easier than navigating the complexities of politics.

Honourable Simon attributed this ease to the respect automatically given by traditional leaders when they receive respect in return. “When you show respect to them, they reciprocate with respect,” he emphasized.

The minister highlighted the importance of collaboration with traditional authorities, particularly in infrastructure development and improving lives. Since chiefs own the lands required for these projects, respect is essential in securing their cooperation.

Simon Osei Mensah praised Otumfuor’s commitment to Ashanti’s and Ghana’s development, as well as his dedication to maintaining peace. “Working with Otumfuor is easy and nice because he ensures you’re on the right path,” he said.

However, he acknowledged the challenges of working within the political sphere. As regional minister and leader of security, applying the law to party members and opposition can be difficult. Despite potential criticism, He also stressed the importance of truthfulness, citing it as the key to his longevity as Ashanti Regional Minister.
