Galamsey Menace: A Threat to Ghana’s Future
The issue of galamsey in Ghana has spiraled out of control, posing a significant threat to the country’s future. Unfortunately, it has become a bigger issue than expected, and it seems both the current government and citizens have lost control over putting an end to this predicament.
While some argue that it is a collective “fight for all,” others view the current government as incompetent in addressing this issue. The situation is dire, with massive destruction of lands and water bodies. The use of mercury has totally contaminated our water bodies.
Ghana has reached a point where even forest reserves are being exploited in the name of galamsey. This raises a critical question: do we really think about the future of our country? How long can we continue demonstrating over this issue without seeing meaningful change?
The devastating consequences of galamsey demand immediate attention and collective action. It is imperative that Ghanaians work together to protect their environment and ensure a sustainable future.
