I HAVE INSTALLED 8000 STREETLIGHTS IN KUMASI – MAYOR SAM PYNE.

A total of eight thousand (8000) streetlights have been installed across Kumasi, according to Mayor Hon. Sam Pyne, in an attempt to make Kumasi city safer.

Mayor Pyne highlighted the initiative as part of his administration’s broader commitment to enhancing public safety and improving the quality of life in Kumasi. The installation of the streetlights, he noted, will not only illuminate previously dark areas but also help deter criminal activities, reduce accidents, and promote nighttime economic activities.

Speaking to ‘The Legend, Kwame Adinkrah on Pure Morning Drive, he said, “The installation of these 8,000 streetlights across various neighbourhoods is a critical part of our strategy to make our city safer for everyone. We are committed to ensuring that every resident feels secure, whether they are at home or walking through our streets at night.”

The mayor also mentioned that the project was carefully planned to cover both densely populated areas and less developed neighborhoods, ensuring equitable distribution of the lights. He emphasized that this initiative is just one of many ongoing projects aimed at developing the city and improving infrastructure.

“Improving our city’s infrastructure is at the heart of our administration’s agenda,” he continued. “We are working tirelessly to address the needs of our people, and this is just the beginning. The installation of these streetlights is a clear demonstration of our commitment to the people of Kumasi.”

The mayor, however, is worried about the persistent theft of cables of streetlights by unscrupulous persons but assured residents that his administration would continue to work diligently to address the city’s challenges and build a safer, more prosperous Kumasi.

The installation of the 8,000 streetlights forms part of a broader urban renewal program championed by the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) under Mayor Pyne’s leadership, aimed at positioning Kumasi as a model metropolis in Ghana.
