Kotoko Coach Calls for Squad Overhaul
Asante Kotoko coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has urged for significant structural changes to the team’s roster following a disappointing 2023-2024 season. The club finished sixth in the Ghana Premier League with 49 points, and Ogum acknowledges that the team fell short of expectations, particularly in securing home victories.
To address this, Kotoko has already released 18 players, including long-serving goalkeeper Ibrahim Danlad. Ogum aims to bolster the squad with experienced Premier League talent, emphasizing the need for swift action to secure top targets.
“We need to make significant changes to the playing body by signing experienced Premier League players to augment the squad,” Ogum stressed. “We must act quickly to get the players we want, as early as possible.”
By prioritizing seasoned professionals, Ogum seeks to avoid relying on lower-division players who may require more time to adapt to top-flight football. This strategic overhaul aims to revitalize Kotoko’s performance and bring joy back to the fans at Baba Yara Stadium.
