Government Allocates GH₵ 741 million to Tackle Water Challenges, Improve Access to Clean Water
In a bid to address the pressing issue of water quality and accessibility, the government has allocated GH₵ 741 million (approximately $1.4 billion) to fund eight projects aimed at improving water infrastructure and conservation in various regions, including Sunyani, Techiman, Damango, Tamele, Yendi, and others.
Deputy Finance Minister Alex Ampabeng announced the allocation during the Blue Community for Africa program, emphasizing the government’s commitment to ensuring all citizens have access to reliable and clean water sources. The funds will be utilized to:
- Improve water infrastructure
- Implement water conservation initiatives
- Enhance water quality monitoring systems
- Provide water treatment plants and machines
By investing in these areas, the government aims to promote public health and well-being, particularly in communities that rely heavily on streams for their daily water needs. This significant allocation is a crucial step towards tackling the country’s water challenges and ensuring a cleaner, healthier future for all.
