Ghanaian IT genius and philanthropist Salifu Abubakari nominated for Global Citizens Awards 2024

A Ghanaian IT genius and philanthropist Salifu Abubakari has put the name of Ghana on the international map after he was nominated at the 2024 Waislitz Global Citizens Awards in New York, USA.

“I have been nominated for the Waislitz Global Citizens Awards in New York, USA which is scheduled to be held in September this year. The award scheme aims at helping youths around the world who are making impact in their various communities”, Mr. Salifu Abubakari.

The Waislitz Global Citizen Awards is an annual award presented by the Waislitz Foundation and Global Citizen. The award aims at ending extreme poverty and to create a positive social impact through innovative projects that empower individuals to meet their full potential and make a measurable difference to the world.

The award is scheduled to be held in September this year in New York, United States.
Speaking to the media in an interview, Mr. Salifu Abubakari, who is also the Founder and CEO of B-Planet Consult revealed that, starting from the streets of Kumasi with struggles and hardship, he realized the importance of helping others to also make it in life hence his nomination.

Salifu Abubakari has trained numerous of youths across the country in areas of electrical installation, graphics and web designing, 3D epoxy flooring, ICT training for his community members among others.

He is currently the Manager of Sawaba ICT Centre a suburb of Kumasi the Ashanti regional capital.

Revealing to the Ghanaian youth on how they can utilize and make money online, Salifu Abubakari said, “most of us buy data, go on Tiktok to watch videos while you can make money on that same platform”.

“You can also register to be a member of so many international organizations, get the opportunity to get jobs and sometimes contract to make money for yourself. In most cases, you can earn more than those of your friends who have traveled abroad to work”, he adds.
