It is absurd, foolishness for anyone to claim I’m tampering with voter roll- Mampong MP

The Member of Parliament of Mampong Constituency and Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister, Hon. Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong, has described as ludicrous, claims by campaign team of flagbearer hopeful, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong of his alleged tampering with electoral register ahead of the NPP’s November 4 primaries.

In a communique, the campaign team of Hon. Kennedy Agyapong alleged that the Mampong MP is in cahoot with some unscrupulous persons to alter the electoral register of the Mampong constituency to favor the Vice-President, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, who is a key contender in the NPP’s race.

They further claimed that some comments of the MP captured in a viral leaked conversation are prejudicial to the Court’s processes filed by some 34 members of the party in the constituency, seeking to annul the 2022 Mampong constituency elections and to be determined on October 30, 2023.

It was alleged by the campaign team of Hon. Kennedy Agyapong that the MP as a respondent to the suit had confirmed victory for his side, without recourse to the Court’s processes and final pronouncements.

In a reaction, Hon. Apratwum-Sarpong, fumed at the claim and explained that they’re mere hogwashes aimed at denting his hard-won reputation, but he has survived worst allegations in his 44-years political career.

“It is rubbish, foolishness and stupid for anyone to make such claim.

I am a confident person. I was raised to be confident so if I say, I am confident that we will win, how can you describe that to be prejudicial?

It is only brainless individuals that will go about carrying that assertion. Evans, take it from me, I don’t control the party album nor have I even been in the country for the past 3 weeks, so it’s just uselessness for anyone to accuse me of tampering with the voter roll.

I am talking to you and you can quote me anywhere. The Voter album is in electronic form and it is controlled at the party headquarters. So who are they saying has changed it?… Is it Justin Koduah or Chairman Wontumi?.. Myself, the last time I went to the party’s headquarters was when Dr. Bawumia was submitting his nominations forms so at what point did I go there to change the voter roll?

It is absurd, weak and senseless.”

”I don’t know the Judge, neither have I been to the Court room since this case started. But, I am confident that as a respondent, and per what my Lawyers have informed me of, we will win. What is wrong for me to say this and how do you qualify this as prejudicial.

Journalists should sometime help the discourse. Probe further. Don’t take hook line and sinker any allegation floated around by any unscrupulous persons.

I know who is behind this but I have survived worst in my 44-years of political service. Don’t won’t daunt me nor my efforts.

I am confident that we will win and if we will win, the executives will take part in the November 4 primaries.” Hon. Kwaku Ampratwum Sarpong told Pure FM’s Evans Osei-Bonsu when reached via telephone.
