NPP Flagbearership: Enough of the backlash; No Aspirant can campaign on his own legacy – COKA

Usually when an election year is closing in, there are pockets of internal wrangling on both sides of the political divide in Ghana, and the year 2023 is no exception.

It is for this reason that a former New Patriotic Party(NPP) Chairman, Odeneho Kwaku Appiah has cautioned that squabbles can cause a major problem if the current ‘fire’ which has started small is not quenched.

The former Chairman has expressed worry over the current happenings in the party, adding that he feels sorry for the NPP.”When l listen to the way some NPP members are talking nowadays, l feel sorry for our party.”

He goes on to advise the aspiring presidential candidates that it is only one legacy they have to campaign in order to break the 8; for which reason they must tone down on selling the party short.

“One thing that we should all know is that we are going to win the election 2024 with President Akuffo Addo’s legacy and because of that we need to protect it. Tell me who among the presidential aspirants can stand on his own legacy to lead NPP to retain power in 2024. It will surprise you that when you leave some of them to be on their own, they will have nothing to show or tell Ghanaians.

“Can you campaign without talking about one district, one factory, digitalization, free SHS, One District One Warehouse, One Village One Dam, and Planting for Food and Jobs? Let us discuss our problems and issues behind closed doors because our opponents are watching us.

Dear NPP delegates, any presidential aspirant or his agent whose body language, behavior, character and utterances are against the president and his policies cannot lead the party to break the 8. Let us be careful because when you bring the president down, it is the party that suffers. Do you remember Hon Baba Jamal of NDC? When you see a lizard, will you say it is a crocodile? A word to a wise person is enough.”
