Police Quarters flooded at Kotokrom

Several police quarters at Kotokrom in the Bono Regional capital, Sunyani, have been flooded, leaving hundreds of properties defaced, Purefmonline.com reports.

Credible information gathered reveals that Sunyani experienced a continuous heavy downpour last Friday dawn running till Saturday morning.

Scores of residents have been displaced due to the floods and having their items like televisions, furniture, fridges, household appliances, clothing, among others destroyed.

The Assembly member, Mr. Dramani Mahama speaking in a telephone interviewwith Pure FM’s Hayford Tabi noted that part of the vicinity was flooded just last week following a downpour to which the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) are yet to offer any form of aid or reliefs.

“As I interact with you, I can confirm that not less than thirty (30) houses are stricken by the disaster with all the inhabitants leaving their belongings behind. “

“All the affected residents including the Police officers are displaced and homeless. Currently, some are depending on other neighbors around for shelter while measures are underway to offer some assistance,”, He revealed.

The Assembly member insisted for a surest permanent solution which is the urgent need for the construction of a larger watercourse at the location linking the heavy water flow whenever there is a downpour.

“While I speak with you, I am presently with some indigenes at the Municipal Assembly to convey the details of the ruin to the Chief Executive, believing him for some assistance. We plead on the general public to come to our aid”, He pleaded.

Hon. Dramani Mahama called on relevant stakeholders to urgently intervene in providing a befitting accommodation to the personnel of the Police Service to allow them resume their posts without delays.
