(Video) Galamsey fight: Veep, Bawumia has been a monumental failure- Dr. Amakye Boateng

A Senior Political Science Lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Dr. Kwasi Amakye Boateng has tagged the Vice-President of the Republic, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as a monumental failure with regards to the illegal-mining fight popularly known as ‘Galamsey’, Purefmonline.com reports.

The Senior Lecturer pronounced the Vice-President as unbefitting for the presidency job going forward. According to him, the Veep has woefully failed the citizenry having directly being responsible for two critical sectors of the governance structure; Security and Economy.

“Dr. Bawumia definitely is not a Presidential material going forward, definitely! We are facing the issues; the situation on the ground is dire.

The economic situation of Ghana has worsened to the extent that South Sudan, a nation bedevilled by over a two decade civil war is even better off.”

“Speaking of security, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is the Chairman of both the Police Council and the Ghana Armed Forces Council. Dr. Bawumia should prove more than just showing he is a learned Economist and his communication prowess.”

“When we talk of security, we are addressing you. Now you want to become the President of Ghana, I will not endorse you.” Dr. Amakye Boateng told Kwame Adinkrah on Kumasi-based Pure FM.

He insisted further that Ghanaians deserve authentic answers to the numerous malfunctions and shortfalls in the security systems including those concerns raised by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, pertaining to illegal mining.

According to him, the present state of affairs haunts one’s imagination as to whether there are governors manning the security of the state to meet the gratification of Ghanaians.
