Breaking: GFA postpones King Faisal v Berekum Chelsea match over Kumasi Sports stadium’s renovation.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has postponed the Ghana Premier League match-day 21 clash between football clubs, King Faisal and Berekum Chelsea scheduled to be played on Sunday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, Purefmonline.com reports.

According to ‘Pure Sport’s’ Bright Yeboah Taylor, the reason for the postponement is to allow renovation works to be carried out at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium as requested by the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) ahead of the Ghana-Nigeria World Cup qualifier game.

CAF tasked the Ghana Football Association to meet certain conditions ahead of Ghana’s World Cup playoffs against Nigeria.

The Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi has been approved by CAF to host the World Cup Qatar 2022 play-off match between Ghana and Nigeria following an inspection by CAF Licensing Inspector.

The Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) after the inspection tasked the Ghana Football Association to meet certain conditions before the Ghana game against Nigeria can be played at the Stadium.

This in the regard has led to the decision to postpone King Faisal’s Ghana Premier League home match against Berekum Chelsea which was supposed to be played at the stadium five days before the qualifiers.

However, it remains unknown when the game will be played.

The Baba Yara stadium replaces Cape Coast stadium which was originally scheduled to host the match.

Ghana will play Nigeria in the 1st leg on Friday, March 25, 2022, at 19:30GMT at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
