I had no business or plan in politics, he pulled me in – George Opare Addo eulogies Ofosu Ampofo
The National Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) had commended his boss, the National Chairman, Ofosu Ampofo for the critical role he played in getting him into Politics fourteen years ago.
George Opare Addo was speaking on the 60th birthday celebration of Chairman Ofosu Ampofo on the Couch, a programme hosted by Ama Pratt on Pan Africa TV.
Narrating how he ‘lost’ his way into Politics, the NDC National Youth Organiser, affectionately called Pablo, stated that Mr. Ofosu Ampofo pressurised his father as well as himself in 2008 when the NDC was looking for a parliamentary candidate for Okere Constituency.
He said he had absolutely nothing to do with Politics when he insisted that I should contest.
“He is one of the few people who drew some of us into politics. He knows it, I had no business, no plan in politics. I had known him as a young man because he was my father’s friend, so anytime the NDC meets, they come home, they talk, I see them, I say these people, what are they talking about, I had no business in politics. But after school in 2008, the NDC was looking for a parliamentary Candidate for the Okere Constituency… I was not the obvious choice because I was the regular type and nobody could think I will come and do this politics… and that’s how my journey in politics started…” he explained.
Expressing his support and appreciation to the National Chairman, Pablo said Ofosu Ampofo again ensured as the Eastern Regional Minister in 2009 that he was nominated by former President Atta Mills as the District Chief Executive Officer for Akuapem North District.
