Ashanti NPP Chairmanship race: Market women to pay for COKA’s nomination

Traders, especially market women in the Ashanti Regional capital, Kumasi are on record for supporting New Patriotic Party(NPP) presidential candidates in times past.

With an impending internal elections in the region, Scores of traders in the metropolis have pledge their unflinching support for candidate Odeneho Kwaku Appiah to unseat incumbent Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako.

The market women who are at the forefront canvassing the grassroots, say they have contributed funds in readiness to buy nomination forms for the Regional Chairman hopeful.
The market women, on Thursday, 10 March 2022, trooped to the premises of Hello FM where the Regional Chairman hopeful was having an interview to declare their intention to pick nomination forms for him.

They expressed disappointment in Wontumi for neglecting them after supporting him to win the chairmanship position.
Speaking on behalf of the traders, the Adwenehemaa, Nana Ama Twenewaa, known as Nana Sarkina called on Wontumi to step aside for a new leadership to break the eight-year jinx.
She noted that Chairman Wontumi is not a contractor but has allegedly been awarded several contracts, many of which have been abandoned, thus, giving the party a bad name in the region.
Nana Sakina said the traders have lost confidence in Wontumi’s ability to lead the party to win more votes in the region to help break the eight-year jinx in the 2024 general elections.
She was confident that Chairman COKA can achieve that feat.
“As women, we’re very observant. We have in recent times observed all the happenings in the region. We’re of a strong conviction that COKA can and will help the party achieve the aim of breaking the eight. This target has nothing to do with movement but requires collective efforts,- and that’s what Odeneho Kwaku Appiah stands for, she added
